AUTHOR WEBSITE RESCUE
Your author website exists. Let’s make it work harder.
Maybe your website looks perfectly fine.
Your books are there. Your bio is there. There are probably a few links to Amazon. Maybe you even have an email signup somewhere.
But a website can look good and still leave readers wondering where to go, what to click or what to do next.
Author Website Rescue is a strategic improvement service for existing author websites that have a workable foundation but aren’t doing enough to support your books, readers and wider marketing.
Starting at $995 CAD
Existing Website Optimization • Up to 5 Pages
THE RESCUE PRINCIPLE
“A collection of pages isn’t automatically a marketing system. We make what you already have work harder.”
- Strategic improvement of up to 5 existing pages
- Reader journey, conversion & navigation focus
- Approx. 2–3 weeks typical delivery
- Final QA & Website Rescue Summary
LOOKING GOOD ISN’T THE SAME AS WORKING WELL
Your website shouldn’t just prove that you’re an author.
It should help readers move somewhere.
Maybe they arrived because they searched your name.
Maybe they just finished one of your books.
Maybe someone shared your work with them.
Maybe they’re trying to figure out which book comes first in a series.
However they arrive, your website has a job to do.
It should help them understand who you are, explore your books, find what they’re looking for and—when they’re interested—give them a reason to stay connected.
If the site technically exists but isn’t doing those things particularly well, you may not need to tear everything down.
You may just need to make what you already have work harder.
SOUND FAMILIAR?
Sometimes the problem isn’t one big thing.
It’s a collection of smaller things getting in the reader’s way.
Website Rescue may make sense if:
- Your website has grown messy as you’ve added books, pages or links over time.
- You’re not sure what you actually want visitors to do when they arrive.
- Readers have to work too hard to understand your books or reading order.
- Important calls to action are missing, buried or competing with each other.
- Your email signup exists, but it isn’t meaningfully connected to the rest of the site.
- Your pages weren’t built with search or discoverability in mind.
- Your site looks noticeably better on desktop than it does on a phone.
- You’ve rewritten or patched pieces of the site so many times that it no longer feels cohesive.
- You know something isn’t quite working, but you don’t know whether you need a few changes or an entirely new website.
The goal isn’t to make your website busier.
It’s to make the path through it clearer.
YOUR WEBSITE HAS A JOB
What happens after someone lands on your site?
A strong author website should help readers move through a simple journey:
Discover
They find you or one of your books.
Understand
They quickly understand what you write and whether your work might be for them.
Explore
They can easily browse your books, series and relevant information.
Choose
They know where to buy, read or take the next appropriate step.
Stay Connected
If they want more from you, there’s an obvious way to remain part of your audience.
Website Rescue looks at your site through that reader journey.
Because a collection of pages isn’t automatically a marketing system.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
We’ll improve the parts that actually affect how your website works.
Every Rescue project will be shaped by the existing site, but the service can include strategic improvements across up to five existing pages.
Website Assessment
I’ll review the current site, identify the most important issues and determine what should actually be addressed during the Rescue.
Reader Journey & Navigation
We’ll make it easier for visitors to understand where they are, where they can go and how the important pieces of your site connect.
Book & Series Discovery
We’ll improve how your books and series are organized and presented so readers can more easily understand what you’ve written and where to begin.
Calls to Action
We’ll clarify the actions your site is asking readers to take and make sure important next steps aren’t getting buried.
Email Signup Integration
If you already have an email marketing system in place, we’ll improve how the existing signup opportunity fits into the reader journey.
Foundational On-Page SEO
I’ll improve foundational page elements that help search engines understand your site and its content.
Internal Linking
We’ll strengthen connections between relevant pages so readers—and search engines—can move through the site more naturally.
Light Copy Refinement
I’ll refine existing website copy where small changes can improve clarity, hierarchy or calls to action.
This does not include full website copywriting.
Mobile & Usability Improvements
We’ll address practical issues affecting how the selected pages function and read across common screen sizes.
Functionality & Link Checks
I’ll check the relevant links and basic functionality within the Rescue scope and address straightforward issues where appropriate.
Final QA
Before the project wraps, I’ll review the updated pages and make sure the agreed improvements have been implemented properly.
AT THE END OF YOUR RESCUE
A stronger website—and a clearer understanding of what changed.
You’ll receive:
- Strategic improvements to up to five existing website pages
- One consolidated revision round
- Final quality assurance review
- A Website Rescue Summary explaining the major changes made
- Notes on anything I recommend you address later but that didn’t belong in this project
I don’t want you to finish the project knowing only that I “fixed some things.”
You should understand what changed and why it matters.
SCOPE AT A GLANCE
What Website Rescue covers.
Author Website Rescue is designed for authors who have an existing, viable website and need strategic improvements rather than a full custom rebuild. The service focuses on up to five existing pages, includes one consolidated revision round, and is typically completed in 2 to 3 weeks across any standard website platform.
Work outside the standard Rescue scope includes:
- A completely new website
- Full brand or logo development
- Extensive copywriting
- Custom illustration
- Full email marketing setup or automation
- Reader magnet creation
- Full technical SEO
- Ongoing SEO services
- Paid advertising
- Ecommerce development
- Complex integrations
- Website migration
- Unlimited revisions
- Ongoing website maintenance
- Custom development or coding unless separately reviewed and quoted
If your project requires work outside this scope, we’ll discuss those options before any work begins.
SOMETIMES THE FOUNDATION IS THE PROBLEM
I won’t spend your budget polishing a website that needs to be rebuilt.
Before the main Rescue work begins, I’ll assess whether your existing website has a viable foundation for the improvements we’re trying to make.
Sometimes it will.
Sometimes the site has reached a point where structural limitations, technology, organization or the amount of work required make continued patching a poor use of your budget.
If that’s what I find, we’ll stop before turning a Rescue into an increasingly expensive workaround.
I’ll explain what I’m seeing and why I don’t recommend continuing with the original scope.
If Author Platform Build is the more appropriate solution, we can discuss that separately.
The goal is not to save the website at all costs.
The goal is to make the best decision for the marketing system behind your books.
THE PROCESS
A focused project, not an endless website renovation.
Inquire
Tell me about your existing website, what isn’t working and what you’d like it to do better.
Initial Review
I’ll review the site at a high level to determine whether Website Rescue appears to be the right level of support.
Confirm Scope
If we’re a good fit, we’ll confirm the pages and priorities included in your project before work begins.
Rescue
I’ll work through the agreed strategic, structural, content, SEO and usability improvements.
Review
You’ll receive the updated site for one consolidated revision round.
Final QA & Handoff
I’ll complete final checks and provide your Website Rescue Summary so you understand what changed, why it changed and anything worth considering later.
Typical project timeline: approximately 2–3 weeks.
NOT SURE WHICH ONE YOU NEED?
The difference is whether you need direction or implementation.
Author Marketing Audit
Choose the Audit if you’re unsure where the larger problem is and want your overall author marketing reviewed before deciding what to change.
Author Website Rescue
Choose Website Rescue if you already know the website itself needs attention and want someone to make the agreed improvements for you.
FIX WHAT EXISTS OR START WITH A STRONGER FOUNDATION?
Not every author website needs to be rebuilt.
Website Rescue makes sense when the underlying website is still viable and strategic improvements can meaningfully strengthen it.
Author Platform Build makes more sense when the problem goes deeper—when the website needs to be replaced, the structure no longer supports your author career or you need the larger audience and marketing foundation built alongside it.

YOUR WEBSITE DOESN’T HAVE TO START OVER
Sometimes it just needs a better job description.
Your author website shouldn’t sit online quietly holding your bio and a few book links.
It should help readers understand your work, explore your books and stay connected when they want to hear from you again.
If the foundation is there, we’ll make it work harder.
If it isn’t, I’ll tell you.
